New Year. Fresh canvas. Sheffield rockers Scrim release their second
record, the visceral ‘Talking In Code’ EP on April 7th 2008 via the
truly amateur Black Moon Records.

‘Talking in Code’ is a 4-track bonanza of brazen riffs, teenage kicks
and killer licks. "The songs here are quite different to the first
single," says lead singer Alek McGovern. "It’s not as aggressive, and is
more lyrically driven, with a lot more groove."

Opening track, ‘Talking in Code,’ jumps straight in with an intense
blast of nose-bleed guitars, before ‘At The Disco,’ delivers a slice of
sonic steel which sees Alek on a night out at Sheffield’s legendary
club, the Crazy Daisy. It’s Scrim at their poppiest, complete with
punching hooks and shimmering guitars. Next up is the majestic ‘Open
Your Eyes,’ an infectious stand out track, clearly influenced by the
likes of the Foo Fighters. And lastly, the end is nigh with the short
climax of ‘Supersize’. Led Zeppelin beware.

Background:

Forged in steel, the four young bucks have been creating an increasingly
toxic noise in South Yorkshire since they formed back in 2004. The band
gelled from the off and started hitting the live circuit in 2005, where
they proved capable in blending their various styles and influences to
create a unique sound. In 2006 they were singed to Black Moon Records
and last year saw the release of their debut single - "My Revolution" /
"Old School."

The band is fronted by the tigerish, post-teen against-the-machine snarl
of Alek McGovern on vocals and rhythm guitar, with the Scrim sound
defined by lead guitarist John Li’s towerblock-high riffs and
shriek-back solos. Add to that, the cranked-up ~love~-kicking drums of
Mister John Clarke and Dave Glasby’s pumped jazz basslines to complete
Scrim: a band with a mission.

Scrim are: Alek McGovern (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), John Li (Lead
Guitar), Dave Glasby (Bass) and John Clarke (Drums)
